Things have changed at the West Cook Y—so many changes, in fact, that we wanted to give you a short recap.
When you walk through our doors, you’re in for a real surprise. In the last two years, we have invested $1.2 million in updating our West Cook Y facility. We’ve added new state-of-the-art cardio equipment; renovated the pool, locker rooms, and spa facilities; resurfaced the gym and racquetball courts; replaced the flooring to improve your experience; added a personal training studio; and made many more “small” changes that add up to a big impact on our facilities—and on your workout.
Plus, our staff has grown—both in number and in qualifications! All of our group exercise instructors are fully certified, we’ve increased our personal training staff, and added a registered dietician to our team. That means you’ll get the highest level of personalized attention, no matter what level of assistance you need.
But we didn’t stop there … We now offer more than 40 free exercise classes every week and specialty group exercise classes that will challenge you (and they are priced so they won’t challenge your budget), plus there is complimentary towel service and fresh fruit for members and our own gourmet locally roasted coffee blend served fresh (and free) every morning to send you into your day ready to conquer it all!
And here’s the best part of all—if you join the West Cook Y in September 2016, we will waive the joiner’s fee! Already a member, ask us about the refer a member program.
We even have a healthy living spa level studio and consultation room. In the studio, you can work with your personal trainer. Then meet with our Registered Dietician and our Lifestyle Coach to discuss healthy choices to complement your fitness plan.
Did you know our coffee is our own personal locally blended coffee that we will begin selling later this year? The best part about being a member of the Y is the sense of community you have with fellow members, staff, and volunteers. That’s why we invested in new flooring, lights, and fresh paint. So that we can all enjoy a fresh cup of coffee. We didn’t stop there… we even updated our multi-purpose room where we hold classes such as our new EnhanceFitness class (link to webpage), the bathrooms, and repainted our preschool classes.
Do you have child in a sport looking for conditioning? Stop by our Healthy Living office located right across from our gym on the 2nd floor. In fact, stop and look at our new refinished and repainted gym floors. We even updated the bathrooms on this floor.
Did you know we have an indoor track? On our third floor, we repainted the cycling room, the sound, mind, and body room.
Is your child ready to move past swim lessons into competitive swimming, we have that too? Our pool was drained and cleaned. We did re-grouting, applied fresh paint, and soon we will be installing new doors from the locker room to the pool deck.
The best part about our summer recess is that we have over 250 at the West Cook YMCA giving their time and skills. So with over 250 people, we went through 200 gallons of paint, installed 200 light fixtures and 400 light bulbs. More importantly, we enjoyed working side-by-side getting to know our neighbors. We shared 42 meals together and many laughs. If you are interested in helping next year, email Nisma Castaneda at firstname.lastname@example.org
