West Cook YMCA

all day childcare

The West Cook YMCA has been nurturing the potential of our community’s youth for 118 years and when the covid-19 pandemic closed 85% of all child care programs in Illinois, your Y offered the emergency childcare program so our essential workers could serve us and our neighbors. As you are called back to work, the West Cook YMCA remains steadfast in our commitment to you and your child through our all-day childcare program– regardless of how the COVID-19 Pandemic unfolds.

HEALTH & SAFETY: Children showing cold or flu like symptoms like coughing, runny noses, sneezing or above normal temperatures are not permitted into the program. To ensure safety, a health worker will screen each child before they enter the facility each day. This will include taking the child’s temperature and reviewing a basic health screen with each caregiver dropping off the child. If during the program, a child begins showing flu or cold like symptoms, staff will escort that child to a designated comfortable and visible space where they can be further assessed, protected and kept under staff supervision and care until a caregiver can be notified and picks up the child. The Y follows rigorous cleaning protocols as guided by the CDC and have been developed in collaboration with our local healthcare partners.

Go to work with a peace of mind knowing that your child will have fun this summer through our camp-infused childcare program in a safe and supportive environment that fosters the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development of your child. They will be welcomed as an individual, where they are valued and recognized as a unique person, where they feel a sense of belonging, can make new friends, and achieve goals that will help them succeed at home, in school, and in life.

Designed with your child’s health and safety in mind, the Y’s childcare program was developed in collaboration with a pediatric health and safety advisory committee consisting of doctors and nurses from Loyola Medicine and West Suburban Medical Center to ensure we have rigorous protocols in place that follow CDC and public health department guidelines. Our staff are experienced and trusted in providing childcare during covid-19.

When you become a part of our program, the fun does not end this summer but continues through the school-year, ensuring you never have to worry about childcare. The Y is here for you in your time of need regardless of how the pandemic shifts.
