In all safety courses that require a certification, refunds will not be given if you do not pass the written and/or practical test. You must attend all class times. Contact the Aquatics Department for more information.


Learn how you can save someone in need by becoming certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED. This class is for those who have never taken CPR or have not been re-certified in 2 years. Know what to do if someone has stopped breathing, has a sudden illness or how to protect yourself in helping another person. This class is taught by American Red Cross Instructors, and participants must attend all dates. For upcoming classes, check out our Events page.



Become certified to be an American Red Cross Lifeguard where you will develop skills and experience that will be valued by colleges and future employers. Upon passing completion of the course you will receive ARC Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certifications. The pretest required to take the course is as follows: 

Ability to swim 300 yards continuously using 100 yards of front crawl, 100 yards of breaststroke and 100 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke; swim 20 yards front crawl or breaststroke, retrieve a 10-pound object from a depth of 7-10 feet, return it to the surface and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object. If you are unable to complete the pretest you may be issued a refund of 75%.

Recommended for people who are currently trained in Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR and/or AED essentials and wish to become re-certified. Must be prepared to take the practical and written test upon arrival.
