Beginning in 2012, the Pleasant District in Oak Park teamed up with the West Cook YMCA, Greenline Wheels, and The Competitive Foot to put on the first ever Pleasant District Family Triathlon. This incredibly unique event provided families in the Oak Park area the opportunity to participate in a low-stress, family friendly triathlon- the only one of its kind in the area. On that inaugural day, 29 teams tried a tri! As a team of one adult and one child, participants swam in the Y's pool, biked on Marion St. on trainers and bikes provided by Greenline Wheels, and ran up and down Marion St. With great feedback and a fantastic race-day experience for everyone, we're forging ahead with the next PDF Tri!

Join the Y this winter for our annual Indoor Family Triathlon. Families are invited to compete as teams of two (one adult and one child) in three events: running, swimming and biking. The swim takes place in our pool, the bike is on stationary bikes, and the run is around our track. No need to bring your own bike! We will provide the bikes and trainers for you.
Children must be between the ages of 7-15, and adults are 16+. Adults will participate in the same distance as the child on their team. Waves will be arranged according to age group, and wave information will be emailed the week before the race. Siblings, babysitters, parents, grandparents- all encouraged to participate with children!
All participants will receive a race day t-shirt, medal, and snack. All ability levels welcome!
Don’t have kids but still want to help? We will be needing volunteers to help run this event! For more information or to volunteer, contact Sarah Gulseth for more info: 708 434 0226 or email@example.com.
