YOUTH SPORTS

At the Y, we believe all children should have the chance to learn healthy lifestyles, grow in leadership skills, and thrive among their peers. Our Youth Sports program approaches that belief in three ways.

  1. We teach and strengthen the skills of every child for the sports they love to play.
  2. We instill and develop the YMCA character values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility through key elements such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and including all children.
  3. We ensure every child enjoys the time they spend in our programming and with the friends they gain and most importantly having fun.

The West Cook YMCA offers team and individual sport opportunities for children in grade school and high school. Year-round basketball opportunities include Youth Basketball League & High School League, and more. Our 1-on-1 basketball Training allows for youth to connect with basketball coaches who will turn your weaknesses into strengths, improve your fundamental skills, and increase your confidence on the court.

BIDDY BALLERS (3 - 5 YEARS)

A great way and a fun way for kids to prepare their self to develop basic fundamentals skills. This program is to design to teach participants basketball basic skills which are passing, dribbling, shooting, and defense and must importantly team work. Classes are on Saturdays morning in the large gym at 10:15am-11:00am.  All participants will receive a Biddy Ballers West Cook YMCA T-shirt. 


 little kickers (3-8 years)

Little Kickers is to help children between the ages 3-8 years old. They will learn the basic skills of soccer including passing, trapping, dribbling, running and moving with the ball under control and having fun with the instructor.


YOUNG BALLERS BASKETBALL LEAGUE (6 - 11 YEARS)

“Calling all boys and girls”, ages 6-13 years old, YBL is back. Come and develop sportsmanship, skill work, hard work, team work, FUNdamentals most importantly having fun. The league is divided by division level and or age groups. Everyone will play. Players will receive weekly games played on Saturdays, one-hour of practice session once a week. Scholarships are available for those who are qualified! Practices are either Tuesdays, or Thursdays all games are on Saturday mornings. Volunteer coaches are needed!

DIVISION LEVELS:

Rookie Division (6-8 yrs.)

Future Stars Division (9-11 yrs.)

Rising Stars Division (12-14yrs).


basketball skills & drills (6 - 14 YEARS)

Build on fundamental skills though high intensity, challenging drills for intermediate to elite athletes to take their game to the next level. Skills include game time situations, making moves off the dribble, and finishing at the basket. Also, skills and drills sessions are great for players who are going to be involved in our Youth Basketball League  (YBL), or for any player who wants to improve his/her basketball skills.


One-on-one basketball training (6-17 years)

Our 1-on-1 basketball Training allows for youth to connect with basketball coaches who turn your weaknesses into strengths, improve your fundamental skills, and increase your confidence on the court


YOUTH PERSONAL TRAINING (6-17 years)

Personal training… but for kids! We empower youth to achieve better health through fun games and fitness activities. The emphasis is on FUN, while experiencing all the benefits of a one-on-one workout.

Initial consultation with parents to determine fitness goals, as well as a periodic evaluation of progress is included. *check program brochure for most up-to-date fees.
