March 2018 CEO Message

CEO Message for March - Spring into action at your Y!

A Word from Phillip

With snow having melted and the first brave flowers of spring poking their heads out, March is a great time to think about starting fresh. If you have health & wellness goals you want to pursue or enhance, your West Cook YMCA membership is one of your best partners for success!

One of the great ways you can reinvigorate your wellness plan is to schedule a fitness consultation. Getting one every six months will help you stay focused and identify the small changes that can increase your success - and it is complimentary with your membership. So be sure and sign up today for your personal "Spring Tune-Up"!

It's a great time to check out our classes, too. There is something for everyone, from 6 months of age through seniors, including many that focus on managing specific health issues and chronic diseases. Spring Classes begin April 9th. Take advantage of these longer days to make progress on your own journey to better health. Spring Registration opens today for members.

For the children in your household, be sure to ask about our before- and after-school program- Y-Kids. More than just a safe place to be, students enjoy crafts and physical activity as well as homework help. Plus, our supportive and positive environment can lead to friendships that last for years.

Depending on your interest, you may also want to explore our swim lessons (and a competitive swim team for children and teens), personal trainers and a variety of complimentary group exercise options.

And don't forget - your membership at the West Cook Y is good at thousands of Y's across America. So if you're heading out of town for Spring Break, make sure your first stop is the Y's National Membership website to find a Y near your destination.

We've sprung ahead to Daylight Savings Time, so now is time to spring into action at your Y. We're looking forward to seeing you on your next visit!

Here are a few more opportunities to make the most of your Y membership.

  • Get a bonus with Summer Camp early registration! For every four-week session you sign your child up for, he or she can choose a free summer boost. That means more fun and more great opportunities - for free! To register, go to www.westcookymca.org/camp.
  • One of the best ways to enjoy summer is swimming - and that's why now is the time to take swim lessons. Learn potentially life-saving water safety while developing a skill that can lead to a great time in lakes and pools. Our upgraded swim lessons are for students of any ability and almost any age. Learn more today. And to check out our Aquatic Youth Sports programs - including Water Polo and Water Safety and Games - in our Spring Program Guide or contact Rebecca Robinson at rrobinson@westcookymca.org.
  • Kids and teens - do you want to take your swimming skills to a new level? In April, we're hosting Swim Team Clinics and Long-Course Try-Outs for TOPS, the premiere swim club in the Oak Park and surrounding area for swimmers ages 5 -18. TOPS helps you become champions in life through the sport of swimming. Click to learn more!
  • Looking for a great place where your youth can enjoy Spring Break? Here's an opportunity to spend the week as an artist, athlete, scientist, explorer, dancer, chef, swimmer, magician and more! Our School's Out Specials give kids a chance to explore new activities and take field trips while having fun in a safe, supportive environment. Schools Out Specials are open from 7 am to 7 pm, making them ideal for parents, too!
