Accounting Manager

Job Type: Full Time - Location: West Cook YMCA

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Finance Director, this position is responsible for ensuring all aspects of business office is organized and run with efficiency and accuracy for the West Cook YMCA.

Essential Functions
  1. Monitor accounts receivable and payable, ensuring invoices are coded to correct account numbers.
  2. Preparation of monthly financial statements, month end closing, reconciliation and analysis.
  3. Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP.
  4. Prepare and review all general ledger journal entries including transactions for review.
  5. Keep monthly statistics and actuals of all programs.
  6. Assist in annual budget process and distribute budget guidelines and procedures and provide support and training to all budget managers in their preparation of the annual budget.
  7. Assist with year-end audit.
  8. Provide on-going communication with personnel ensuring accuracy in all accounting functions.
  9. Monthly bank reconciliations and account analysis.
  10. Review balance sheet accounts and Daxko operations transactions.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Director

Camp Counselor

Job Type: Seasonal - Location: West Cook YMCA

POSITION SUMMARY

Camp Counselors thrive when they are energetic, outgoing individuals who excel at creating intentional relationships with youth. In addition to providing direct supervision to a group of children, they also engage in exciting activities that focus on building new skills, creating relationships, and establishing a sense of belonging. Camp Counselors work to build cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers and create opportunities for them to engage in the Camp program. They promote and support the potential of all youth in programs and facilitate peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience. In terms of a time commitment, Camp day runs 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and some families may need early drop off or late pickup, shifts will vary depending on need. The Camp season is June 14, 2021 - August 13, 2021 and there are required online and in-person trainings prior to the start of Camp.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Responsible for supervision of and active participation with an assigned camp group of children.

2. With Co-Camp Counselors, plans and implements developmentally appropriate, culturally relevant activities for assigned group that are consistent with YMCA values.

3. Be active and fully engaged with youth as you participate in all programs and activities.

4. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.

5. Attends all meetings and trainings.

6. Actively supervises activities at the pool and field trips, and maintains a visual of all participants

7. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.

8. Maintains positive relations with parents and staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

9. Adheres to all protocols and procedures for COVID-19 safety guidelines

10. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the position

Camp Counselor Lead

Shift Leads work alongside Camp Counselors to build cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers and create opportunities for them to engage the Camp program. They promote and support the potential of all youth in programs and facilitate peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience. In terms of a time commitment, Camp day runs 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and some families may need early drop off or late pickup, shifts will vary depending on need. The Camp season is June 14, 2021 - August 13, 2021 and there are required online and in-person trainings prior to the start of Camp.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Responsible to guide counselors and campers through the camp program, help keep the camp groups on schedule and actively participate in the activities.

2. Alongside Camp Counselors, ensures supervision of and active participation with the camp groups.

3. Plans and implements developmentally appropriate, culturally relevant activities for assigned group that are consistent with YMCA values.

4. Supports counselors with execution of activities and ensures camp groups have documents needed for the day i.e. rosters, emergency binder, allergy lists, first aid kits, updates to camp activities etc.

5. Be active and fully engaged with youth as you participate in all programs and activities.

6. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.

7. Attends all meetings and trainings.

8. Maintains daily and weekly program records, updates co-leads and supervisor regularly, and ensures that all opening and closing procedures are complete daily.

9. Actively supervises activities at the pool and field trips, and maintains a visual of all participants

10. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.

11. Maintains positive relationships with parents and staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

12. Performs some administrative work weekly, such as tracking attendance, welcome phone calls and processing registration packets to update emergency binders and camp counselors.

13. Adheres to all protocols and procedures for COVID-19 safety guidelines

14. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

Day Camp Director

Job Type: Full Time - Location: West Cook YMCA

Position Summary

The Day Camp Director position may be for you if you are passionate and energized by: providing thoughtful program activities to help youth gain new knowledge, skills, and abilities; build confidence and discover who they are; creating welcoming atmosphere that facilitates building relationships with and among youth; establishing a space for them to make new friends and develop strong relationships with staff; providing a safe and inclusive environment so that every youth feels welcome and finds a place to belong.

 

Delivering an impactful youth experience requires curating a quality engaging day camp experience for staff, campers, and families by being diligent in implementing youth development best practices and program operations. This will include supervision to day camp staff, engaging and building relationships with families, creating staff and program schedules, managing the day camp experience, and ensuring a safe and positive environment for all.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Leads and implements the Day Camp experience for school age youth.

    2. Supports hiring, onboarding, and training of day camp staff to ensure quality staff and quality youth programming.

    3. Responsible for ensuring all program operations, safety practices, and program goals are being met within implementing the day camp program.

    4. Plans and implements developmentally appropriate, culturally relevant activities for assigned group that are consistent with YMCA values, program goals, and youth development best practices.

    5. Supports department efforts to ensure program enrollment and revenue.

    6. Builds and maintains positive relationships with all camper families, to support and encourage a quality and smooth experience from inquiry, registration, onboarding, experiencing program, to encouraging participation in future Y programs.

    7. Responsible for planning program schedules and coordinating with YMCA department for space and equipment use as needed.

    8. Responsible for ensuring the planning and preparation of program schedules, lesson plan binders, rosters, and other supporting documents to ensure camp counselors are prepared for the camp week.

    9. Maintain all YMCA and program records as needed. i.e. program attendance, enrollment tracking, Summer Food Service Program, CCAP, etc.

    10. Responsible for providing camp staff with supplies for quality camp experience and maintaining the proper use of all camp equipment and ensuring quality organization of all storage spaces.

    11. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies and adheres to all COVID-19 safety guidelines.

    12. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

Enrichment Teacher (Seasonal)

POWER SCHOLARS ACADEMY™ PROGRAM

The summer learning program is designed to enrich summer learning for rising River Forest students in Grades 1-4 who have been identified through the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support process (MTSS) as Tier 2.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Enrichment Teachers role is to actively engage youth in enrichment programming, such as art, STEM, physical activity and more. Responsible to create an environment where scholars will be able to build confidence, try new activities, and build positive relationships. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing enrichment classes, support Assistant Teachers, and scholar supervision during guest speakers, field trips and events.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Developing and implementing appropriate enrichment classes for assigned grade levels.

· Preparing classrooms for daily activities and collaborating with academic teachers and teacher’s assistants to ensure that objectives are reached.

· Maintaining accurate classroom records.

· Maintaining an organized and efficient classroom.

· Adhering to all Power Scholar Academy and district professional expectations and compliance issues.

· Creating a positive, achievement-oriented, organized and engaging learning environment.

· Motivating and holding scholars to high academic and behavioral expectations.

· Providing consistent rewards and/or consequences for scholar behavior grounded in positive discipline.

· Empowering scholars to make positive choices and serving as a role model.

· Being accountable for meeting scholars’ individual academic and instructional needs.

· Mentoring and supporting the professional development of the teacher’s assistants.

Lifeguard

Job Type: Part Time - Location: West Cook YMCA

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Aquatic Coordinator and the overall direction of the Aquatic Director, the lifeguard is responsible for the safety and well-being of all patrons. Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, on deck, and surrounding areas.  Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with the West Cook YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Responsible for the safety of all individuals by maintaining active surveillance of the pool area during various activities and programs.
  2. Responds immediately to emergency situations accordance with Red Cross and YMCA policies and procedures. Adheres to all guidelines and procedures set in the West Cook YMCA Handbook and Aquatic Manual.
  3. Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
  4. Maintains all certifications required for the position and all other certifications required by Aquatic Director when needed.
  5. Performs equipment checks, chemical testing, and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  6. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Member Engagement Representative

The Member Engagement Representative is responsible for creating a friendly environment for our members and guests by welcoming them into the facility and addressing their needs.  They deliver excellent service to all visitors, ensuring every person who enters the West Cook YMCA has a quality experience.

Swim Instructor

Job Type: Part Time - Location: West Cook YMCA

POSITION SUMMARY 

Under the direction of the Aquatic Director, the swim instructor provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
  2. Communicates and builds effective relationships with students and parents.
  3. Communicates information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs.
  4. Responsible for the safety of the participants in their classes.  Acts immediately and appropriately in the event of an emergency.
  5. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
  6. Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  7. Follows all West Cook YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  8. Sets up and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
  9. Adhere to all guidelines and procedures set by the West Cook YMCA Handbook and Aquatic Manual.
