The West Cook YMCA and the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago have partnered to help better the community. The Y will be holding clothing drives twice a year to benefit the Foundation and also support the work that Savers (a discount/second-hand store) does in the community. The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago collects the used clothing to help fund programs and services for the 130,000 Chicagoland individuals affected by epilepsy. These services include training for more than 6000 teachers and school nurses, counseling to over 2500 individuals, sending 60 kids to a seizure-friendly summer camp, providing medical care for nearly 400 individuals, and 20 other unique programs for parents, families, and children.
The Fall clothing drive will be held September 22-29.
The Epilepsy Foundation is partnered with Savers Thrift Stores and send unusable items to developing nations to repurpose. Donors help keep items out of landfills and also help support our local non-profit. Tax donation receipts are available per donor request.
Any household donations are accepted, including clothing, shoes, hats, purses, belts, linens, towels, books, decorations, kitchen items, furniture, toys, etc.
Our Spring 2014 drive brought in 1,177 pounds of clothing. Together, we can make a difference!
