Christmas Greetings and good wishes for a Happy Holiday season to all from the West Cook YMCA family to you and your families.

Since the day after Thanksgiving, our 44th annual Christmas Tree sale has been in full swing and will continue through December 24. Purchase your tree today through December 24th and receive a free sample of our specially blended coffee.

This Christmas season, the West Cook Y provided the 16 trees that the River Forest Park District has put on display at the intersection of Lake Street and Lathrop Avenue in the Village. Each tree is sponsored by a community or non-profit organization.

Our new 2017 Program Book is now online. Watch for it, as every page is filled with scores of opportunities to improve health, fitness and well being.

Of special interest are the three new initiatives-the Mossa Group Exercise program, EnhanceFitness, a program for seniors developed in consultation with the University of Washington and senior organizations and SMART, an evidence-based stress management and resiliency training program for seniors developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mossa is one of the most respected developers of professional, high quality enjoyable group fitness workouts. Our certified fitness instructors will draw on the expertise and experience of the Mossa Group Fitness exercise programs built around specific lesson plans that follow an organized curriculum.  Use of this program will help ensure consistency for the Y's group exercise programs.

The West Cook Y is the only non-clinical site in the U.S. of the Stress Management and Resilience Training program that helps older adults at all levels of fitness become more active, energized and empowered to sustain independent lives.

With the year-end approaching, the West Cook YMCA continues to welcome contributions to its Annual Support Program. Because membership fees cover all the administrative costs of the Y, 100 percent of all contributions to the Annual Support Program stay here in the community to provide scholarships for youth, families and seniors who otherwise would not have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of a YMCA membership. Last year, more than 1,000 scholarships totaling over $100,000 were awarded to qualified persons in need. Give Today and make an impact tomorrow.

As we close out another year at the West Cook YMCA, I'm most grateful to the continued generosity of the time and talent of our Board of Directors; our dedicated and talented staff who constantly strive to provide the very best programs and service for our members; our residents who pitch in and help in so many ways; and our many partners in the community, scores of other organizations who each in their own way join with us in contributing  to the health, fitness and well being of the residents of the ten west suburban communities we serve.

To all, a special wish for Happy Holidays and Blessings for a Peaceful New Year.
