New Group Fitness Classes are Here!

At the West Cook YMCA, we remain committed to our members' health and well-being! Our new Associate Director of Fitness Programming and Services Danielle Nachtigall will be key to our bringing to fruition the full fitness program vision and expansion.
In July, Danielle has added three new group fitness classes with plans for additional group fitness offering this fall, including Level Up with Nicki starting August 8th and other fitness options opening in September.
"I'm looking forward to expanding on the group fitness offerings here at the Y. These new classes are a great way for our members to increase cardio and core strength," Danielle said.
In September, our members can look forward to even more advancement at the West Cook YMCA, including the addition of a mobile app, brand new cardio equipment, and a new pool liner.
Danielle has been with the YMCA Movement since 2012 as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, incorporating her dance background and passion for the human body and its movement to help people understand how exercise can be a form of preventative maintenance and/or recovery. She is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor, a Healthy Heart Ambassador, and holds a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology as well as certifications in LiveSTRONG at the YMCA, Moving for Better Balance, Keiser and TRX Suspension Training.

Descriptions of the new classes can be found below:

BODY TUNING (MONDAY & WEDNESDAY, 9:45-10:30 AM): A fun, musically driven, strength training and cardio class using low weight and high repetitions will have you working your mind and your body. Can be modified for all ability levels. Must be able to get on the floor.
CORE STRENGTH AND STRETCH (TUESDAY & THURSDAY, 9:00-9:45 AM): This core focused class will educate and empower you to build a stronger core, through movement. The class will also include stretching, intended to help make activities of daily living easier. Can be modified for all ability levels. Must be able to get on the floor.
LUNCH CRUNCH (MONDAY & WEDNESDAY, 1:00-1:30 PM): All movement starts at the core. If you need a great abdominal workout, this class is for you! It targets all muscles of the core, including the lower back for decreased low back pain. Can be modified for all ability levels. Must be able to get on the floor.
LEVEL UP (SUNDAY, 10:15-11:00 AM, starts August 8th): Take your fitness to the next level! This 45-minute workout is designed to increase your strength, improve your cardiovascular endurance, and push you to reach new goals. Each week will bring a new workout that incorporates resistance bands, challenging cardiovascular exercises, along with body weight movements, all in a high-intensity interval format that will challenge participants of all levels.
