EXPLORing the FEASIBILITY OF a NEW FACILITY
At the 2019 Annual Gala, held April 27, 2019, Phillip Jimenez, President/CEO announced that the West Cook YMCA in partnership with the Proviso Mental Health Commission has created an exploratory committee to determine the viability of building a new West Cook YMCA Association facility at the Old Menards located at 8311 North Avenue in Melrose Park.
The proposed site allows the West Cook YMCA to more centrally serve all ten communities in its service area including Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, Bellwood, Elmwood Park, Franklin Park, Melrose Park, Maywood, River Grove, and Stone Park. The West Cook YMCA will continue provide the same programs that we all have come to expect while also providing a comprehensive approach to population health through partnerships and collaborations to provide preventative care, primary care, and specialty care all from one facility. The facility at 255 N. Marion in Oak Park will not be negatively impacted. The Y will continue to look for ways to improve the Oak Park facility.
One aspect of our future vision is crystal clear, the West Cook YMCA will continue to stand with our neighbors from every zip code, every socio-economic group, every age from early childhood through retirement. Your voice is important to us as we explore the viability of this new location. It is during this phase that your feedback, through either community stakeholder focus groups or member feasibility surveys, will help us address the needs and wants of the communities we serve.
