Happy New Years! We are so excited about all that is happening this year that we just couldn't wait to share it with you. 2017 is the year to Rediscover Your Y as you seek to Be Your Best Self. 

Over the last 2.5 years, over $1 million has been invested in your Y to enhance your member experience. We have intentionally worked to acquire and implement programs that focus on supporting you on your pathway to wellness. We are committed to supporting you where you are on this pathway. As a result of our commitment, we are now offering more programs than ever and that means you have more opportunities to connect with other members, get fit, manage chronic diseases, learn to swim, or so much more.

Living Strong with Cancer

Since 2011, 77-year-old Oak Parker, Glen Benoy, has been diagnosed with two different forms of cancer, which after treatment transitioned him into a state of remission twice.

He credits his returning strength and overall physicality to the programming of the West Cook YMCA, and specifically its new evidence-based "Livestrong at the YMCA" program, which debuted in February 2016.

October 2016 CEO Message

Ah, October.

A time to refresh, renew, and rejuvenate after summer's lazy hazy days.  Fall is nature's paintbrush gone wild and is surely a favorite month by any measure.  

Here at the West Cook YMCA, October is a time to welcome and to thank all the many new members who have joined the Y in recent weeks. Since August 29, we welcomed 338 new family members and an additional 181 individual members have joined.

Preschool Update: Only 11 Openings Left

A child's preschool experience can have a major impact for the future because a child who attends preschool gains important skills that provide a foundation for reading and math success in elementary school. And here's another reason why this is such an important choice - the benefits of preschool continue as a child grows! In fact, a child who attends preschool is more likely to finish high school and attend college than children who don't.

Isn't it wonderful when you rediscover a great restaurant where you've enjoyed a terrific meal? Or maybe you've had the opportunity to revisit a favorite vacation destination that brings back fond memories. For some people, rediscovering their own family roots brings a great sense of pleasure and reassurance to their lives.
