CHILD WATCH

COMPLIMENTARY FOR MEMBERS

The Y’s Child Watch program is a safe and supportive environment for your children, so you can work your way to a healthier, happier you. Our experienced, friendly, and caring staff are trained to provide an environment where your children can develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically through activities such as reading, interactive games, and other group activities.  Members are required to remain in the facility at all times when their child in being cared for in our Child Watch space. Please bring your own bottles, diapers, and snacks for your child (no nut products are allowed), and labelling your belongings is highly recommended.

AGES

6 weeks to 6 years old. A parent or guardian who is 18 years or older must sign in each child and remain in the facility at all times.

COST

Per the state of Illinois, children are allowed to be in the Child Watch space for a maximum of 2 hours per day. 

Members enjoy complimentary access to the Child Watch services for 90 minutes. After the first 90 minutes, the charge for an additional 30 minutes is $5 per child.    
For non-members, the fee is $5 per 30 minutes per child for a max of 2 hours.

OPEN GYM FOR PRESCHOOL AGES 

with Child Watch Staff in the Small Gym: 3-6 years 

M: 12:00 pm-1:00 pm

W: 12:00 pm-1:00 pm

ROOM CAPACITY 
Child Watch allows for up to 2 infants (6 weeks-12 months) per Child Watch staff person in the room at the same time.     
1:7 ratio with no infants in the room     
1:5 ratio with one infant     
1:3 ratio with two infants

POLICY REMINDER 
Please pick up your children by the time the babysitting room closes. Failure to retrieve children by closing time will result in a charge of $1.00 per minute the child stays past the posted closing time. The Y reserves the right to change the hours based on usage. 

Child Watch Programs

FIRST VISIT TO THE CHILD WATCH PROGRAM

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Each child who participates in our Child Watch program must complete the Registration process at the front desk. Staff will process information to add to family’s membership account, and registrations will only be required on an annual basis. The final step is to have a photo taken of the parent and child/children. Photos will be individual head shots. Each visit, family will need to check into the facility first prior to dropping of children in the Child Watch Center.

Information Needed to participate:

  • Full Name

  • Date of birth

  • Allergies, food preferences, and if medicine is needed while in program

  • If adding additional pick ups (not on membership account)

  • Picture on file of child and guardians (for additional pickups on account, will need to show picture ID to be able to pick up a child in the program)

Checking into the Child Watch Room:

  • Once the child's information is on file, renewal not needed until 12 months after registration.

  • Upon arrival to the WCY, scan in to the Y facility and then enter the Child Watch room to be checked in by a Youth Development Team member

  • Youth Development team member will ask a few questions, and check in your child to the program

    • If you would like to share any additional information about your child?

    • Where will you be in the facility?

    • What number is best to reach you while you are in the facility today?

Pick up from Child Watch Program:

  • Upon entering the child watch room, please connect with a youth development team member.
  • Youth Development team member will confirm pick up and check out your child on the tablet.
