GREAT SUMMERS END HERE

The West Cook YMCA’s Summer Day Camp is an opportunity for your scholar to end the summer with countless fun. We are committed to helping campers experience a sense of achievement, build on their relationship skills and discover a sense of belonging.

During camp, we will enjoy time outdoors, discover new skills through new activities, build friendships, and connect through camp traditions while building a community all while instilling our YMCA core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and caring.

The West Cook YMCA maintains the highest standards for safe and quality programming adhering to YMCA best practices. Our trained, professional staff are experienced and committed to the values of the YMCA. All staff members complete training including Y USA’s Day Camp Best Practices; First Aid, CPR and AED training; Praesidium Child Abuse Prevention Training and Reporting; and emergency action plans. All staff have criminal background checks. Learn more about our commitment to child abuse prevention through Praesidium.

The West Cook YMCA Summer Camp program will incorporate a wide range of activities, lunch time, and social time. We treat each child as an individual, where they are values and recognized as an unique person where they feel like they belong, make new friends, and achieve goals that will help succeed at home, in school and in life.

Days will be filled with:

  • Fun camp activities to engage brains
  • Opportunities to explore, develop new skills, and try new things
  • Plenty of physical activity inside and outside with sports and games to keep bodies active
  • Swim Lessons are included to teach water safety and progressive swim skills to build confidence in the water

CAMP GOALS

Our camp goals are as follows:

  • To inspire kids to work together and play together to create friendships that can last a lifetime.
  • Enjoy the summer experience and have fun in a safe and secure environment.
  • To instill our YMCA core values in each child: respect, responsibility, honesty and caring.
  • To encourage and promote family wellness and togetherness by having events throughout the summer that the whole family will enjoy.
  • To enhance belonging and accomplishment by creating a place where kids are safe to be themselves and try new activities.

Our camp will be participating in different enrichment activities that include STEM and crafts, swimming time 4 days a week, and have access to our small and large gyms if we are unable to go outside and play. Any field trips we conduct would be either by walking in the surrounding area within 30 miles by YMCA bus.

This is a time where we will talk about how we are feeling and build each other up to take on the day. Then, we will get to do some fun activities!
