As part of our WCY family, we want to share an important, and often surprising, truth:
Membership fees help keep our doors open, but they do not fund the programs, classes, or community impact work that make the Y so special. Your membership fees support essentials like safety inspections, maintenance needs, insurance, and utilities. It is philanthropy, generous, financial gifts from people like you, that funds life-changing programs and ensures access for all.
That is why, over the next month, we are working to raise $17,500 (celebrating 175 years of the Y) of charitable donations to strengthen our programs, expand access, and continue building a healthier, more connected community for all. Your gift, your hard-earned money, at any level, will create lasting change.

The West Cook YMCA has been strengthening the foundations of community for more than 120 years.
- $2,000 | Transforms Lives Across Our Community
Provides financial assistance for multiple families, supports youth development programs, strengthens community health initiatives, and helps sustain the operations that make the Y a welcoming place for thousands of people each year. - $1,500 | Powers Life-Changing Health & Wellness Programs
Helps fund an entire session of evidence-based programs such as Diabetes Prevention at the West Cook YMCA, Blood Pressure Self Monitoring program, Healthy Weight initiatives, and mental health and wellness programming that improve quality of life and foster connection. - $1,000 | Opens the Door to Opportunity
Provides two full year scholarships that will allow families experiencing financial hardship to access memberships, wellness programs, youth activities, and the support networks that strengthen healthy communities. - $500 | Gives Children Essential Skills for Life
Supports swim lessons, water-safety education, certified instructors, and program resources that help children build confidence in and around the water while reducing the risk of drowning. - $250 | Supports Specialized Wellness Programs
Helps provide equipment, trained instructors, and program materials for wellness programs and older adults working to maintain their strength, balance, and independence. - $100 | Promotes Healthier Futures
Supplies participant materials, wellness resources, and program support for chronic disease prevention efforts focused on diabetes, cancer recovery, mental wellness, and healthy aging. - $50 | Teaches Water Safety and Confidence
Helps ensure that children and adults have access to critical water-safety education and swim instruction that can save lives. - $30 | Inspires Healthy Living
Provides access to a West Cook YMCA group exercise class, helping individuals improve their physical health, reduce stress, and connect with others in a supportive environment. - $20 | Keeps the Y Safe and Welcoming
Supports the day-to-day maintenance, cleaning, and safety needs that allow the West Cook YMCA to provide a secure, accessible, and welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors.
